Nook & Cranny Book Wagon has partnered with Spread the Word Nevada to bring the joy of reading to children in need across Washoe County! Through this special Read Across America fundraiser, you can purchase a brand-new book for just $10, and Nook & Cranny will donate it directly to Spread the Word Nevada. This initiative is part of Read Across America, taking place from March 2-6, 2025, and offers the community a chance to give back with discounted book prices for this event only. Help us spread literacy and make a difference—one book at a time!

What books will be donated?

We are collaborating with Spread the Word NV to carefully select books that are engaging, meaningful, fun, and age-appropriate. Their team will also guide us on the most requested titles from students, as well as needed grades and genres in the community, based on their experience working with students and teachers. You can see a few of the titles we plan to purchase on this page.

When will the books be donated?

After the fundraiser ends on March 6, we will start purchasing the books! We’ll keep the community updated on our progress and share the total number of books donated.

What is Spread the Word NV?

Spread the Word Nevada is a children’s lit­er­acy non­profit, 501 (C)(3) cor­po­ra­tion, ded­i­cated to advanc­ing early child­hood lit­er­acy by plac­ing books into the hands and homes of chil­dren within Nevada low income com­mu­ni­ties. While devel­op­ing a love of read­ing, these libraries pro­mote future aca­d­e­mic achieve­ment and self-confidence, which impacts life­long success.
